I wasn't kidding. This photo shows what I have awakened to at least three mornings in the last week. Our ground in the garden is soooo wet that I haven't been able to get out and weed. And actually, I miss doing it. Getting my hands in the dirt is so soothing to me when I'm stressed or blue or just tired of feeling lousy and tired.
When I went out to the garden today I was able to do a little bit of weeding, but mostly I sank up to my ankles and decided that I was pushing it. We have had sunshine today for most of the afternoon and I should be able to go out tomorrow and play in the dirt without it being all mud.
That being said and my excuses being put out there... here are some photos of my garden, as it is now, grass, weeds and all, what there is of it that I could photos of without getting stuck in the mud.
To the left... cabbage and grass.
Here we have onions and grass...
Potatoes and grass...
Onions, garlic and grass... oh, and two hoses that I haven't had to use in two weeks, except to wash the mud off my feet and/or sandals from when I tried to get out in the garden to pull up weeds and grass.
Tomatoes (in the four cages), onions and one damn weed. I went in today, very carefully, to check out the ground and as I was walking to go back out I decided that I had to pull that one damn weed. I took one step, very carefully, it was okay. I took another... and sank up above my ankle. I said a few choice words and went in and got that weed anyhow. I figured since I was going to have to hose myself off that weed was coming out.
These weeds get to live until tomorrow.
Hope all of you that needed rain have gotten it and I hope that all of us that have gotten it get one more day of sunshine so we can clean out some of the weeds.
It's supposed to rain here again Saturday night and Sunday.
But on a good note... Dar, I haven't seen your 'gator around here... yet.

If you see the Gator, take a picture of that wouldcha? Hi Dearie!
Helen, the green is so beautiful against the red mud. Vince has our garden all planted as well. Should have asked you about planting potatoes. We did but had never done it before. I found a trumpet vine at the nursery and will go get it on Saturday. Thanks to you.
We can't even plant until after Memorial Day because of potential frost. I'm sooooo jealous - but not of the rain. That we have.
Enjoy your sunshine.
looks like you should stop weeding and start building that ark..;D
I am so jealous-Your garden looks like it has been in a long time! My poor sad little tomato sprouts are still sitting in the window of my kitchen. We are not allowed to safely get our tomatoes in the ground until after mothers day up here in the north. I have big plans this year with my oldest daughter (now back home) and neighbor. We are going to plant food all over our yard! I have a drawer full of seed in the kitchen but two days and counting yet to go!
Your garden looks awesome-mud and all!
Tina
Shame we don't like grass as much as cows!!! Grass salad with a little dressing?....nahhhhh
I think your garden looks really neat...weeds and all !! Nothing better than being in your own "head space" with your hands in the soil...very rewarding too.
That "one damn weed" cracked me up!
I can definitely relate. I will step in the mud, fight a bee or whatever, to just get that one damn weed.
But the garden looks great.
I have been putting grass clippings down between the rows to keep the weeds down and it is working great.
Well, send some down our way. We are in a drought and need some water soon. Thanks for looking at the puppies. Things are going well here.
I'm with NOLA. It's too bad we can't eat grass, like cows do. There is always a bounty of it.
You're garden is HUGE!
What a wonderful big space for the garden; soggy or not. We pray for rain and you get inundated with it. Oh well, such is life.
Nice to see pictures of your property.
Your yard looks like mine! Been raining cats and dogs here too! I'm ready for some sunshine.
Let's hope you have a beautiful, sunny weekend.
I still have to wait unti the end of the month to plant...
Your garden looks great....at least it will once you can walk in there and plant things. Lots of room. I like that. Now I understand the "Red dirt" part! The green and the red look fantastic together. Sorry! Guess I'm thinking quilts again. Red and green are opposite on the colour wheel!
wow you have had some crazy rains... LOVE your garden weeds and all :)
you should have left the weed alone ;-)
wow you have had a lot of rain your garden is coming along nicely.
Thankyou for the shout out Helen dear...
Uhmmm my gator is missing..be sure keep your eyes open...if you see him tell bubba com'on back home!
Helen.....I just love you and marvel at all the sweet, kind, wonderful things you speak into my life. You are a true encourager and you lift my heart every time I see your name - not to mention all the laughs I get when I read your writing. I wish I could give you the biggest hug ever. ((((((X)))))))
Have a WONDERFUL Mother's Day and please know that your friendship is SUCH a blessing.
The Husband and I took a "yard tour" tonight, with martinis. The rain has been good for some of our plants, but not so good for others. Gardening is a daily effort (good or bad). Everyone, enjoy the daily effort!
If it ain't floodin'it's drought............ capricious weather! The weeds will still be there ya know, but I ubderstand the compulsion to remove them onn sight, I have it too!
Hugs from sunny Aus!
