No More Knee Jerk Reactions…

But the good news is no fractures and no bone chips floating around according to the x-rays. The doctor had to laugh when I told him about stepping on SueSue when she was wanting to play the ‘ice game’.  Turns out that my doctor has two mini-schnauzers also and his not quite one year old little girl schnauzer likes to play the ice game, too. While being understanding and empathetic, he also chastised me a bit for not coming in last week.  While he acknowledges that I know my body he said he has seen hairline fractures in the kneecap and the leg bone that have not caused sharp pain.  So if there is a next time, which I will try to avoid, I promised him I wouldn’t wait a week to come in and let him check things out.

So for all of you that yelled at me to go to the doctor… You were right and, although I will try to avoid any more injuries, if I have anything else happen to me you all have my permission to yell at me again. And again if need be.

Thank all of you for your concerns, prayers and admonitions.  I will try to remind myself to listen.

Oh my word....I have proof, in writing, that I was right! I know now, Sass, (if there was ever a doubt, and there wasn't) that you're a true friend. Any old friend can forgive you for being wrong....it takes the exceptional one to forgive you for being right! lol I think I'll make that my observational twitter tomorrow!

Well, sometimes doctors do know best. If we all had X-ray vision then we could see those little hairline fractures..., and internal bleeds...., and GANGRENE setting in. Next time please go to the doctor sooner and try to not have a "next time" at all. We're too old to be hurting ourselves like that.

Glad you are ok...and you really are saying...I told you all I was fine, now you just cost me some money that I didn't need to spend. I hear what you really are saying. But I am glad you confirmed that you are fine.

And by the way, not much longer till OU FOOTBALL....I can't hardly wait. Sept. 5th!!!!

"There, there Helen, don't you bleat -
Soon we'll have you on your feet.
And here's my bill".
He's right, (she heals),
But Helen's had to sell her wheels...

Glad it's not serious!

maybe next time you will listen to us sooner! Glad he released you but you need to be careful, no more wild ice games for you!

Well - I'm glad nothing is broken. That would have made taking care of your garden a whole lot more difficult.

Take care so that you heal up fast.

PS, I hope there won't be a next time but I am working on being a better listener, just in case...

Robynn I have no doubt that if I was right you'd forgive me, too. SASS,I think that would be a very good observational twitter.

Farmlady, I didn't think about gangrene!!! Crap, don't you know that would have been some UGLY colors then... I'm gonna work not to have a next time. I don't bounce like I did when I was younger.

Hetty thank you. I've been kind of hard headed about going to the doctor but don't tell anyone you heard me say that...

Lisa, girl you and I both have been pretty busy this summer and I know you've had a lot more fun than me. Vacays to the beach, grandbabies and photo shoots. And I'm ready for football... and to have a legitimate reason to be sitting with my feet up.

Caroline, is there nothing that you can't come up with a rhyme for? You never cease to amaze me when you whip out these little diddies... Thank you, my friend, for the smile.

Okay, Dar, okay... no more quick pirouettes in the kitchen. I don't think I've had my heinie booted via the blogsphere before. And the doctor did tell me essentially the same thing so you can hang out your shingle now.

Sara it has been difficult because I'm used to getting on my hands and knees and getting down and dirty to get some of the nastier weeds and I promise you I will think I'm well when I can crawl around under some of my plants to get the weeds and grass pulled out because I can't put that kind of pressure on my knee right now.

LOL Helen I thought me and my mom where the only ones that used that phrase "hang out your shingle" LOL too funny..we always have people come up to us "strangers" and tell us their life story and we look at each other and say..is my shingle hanging out I sure don't remember hanging it up today..LOL

Glad it wasn't broken, but also glad that you went to the doc. Now next time, girly, go!! LOL. I hate spending money to go myself, but the older we get, it just happens we don't come back from things as fast. Stinks, doesn't it? You are one heck of a lady helen, I admire you a lot!!!

God Bless~

I had a friend who ended up with gangrene due to a bump on the leg like that. That's what was worryin' me. By the time he went to the doctor it was really bad and almost lost his leg because of it.
I'm glad it's all good. And glad you listened to your FRIENDS.
By the way, I'm stubborn about going to the doctor too.

Glad to hear/read the good news - take it easy!

Margaret, SueSue and I will still play the ice game, I will just be more careful to let her know that that is all the ice nibbles each time. She just thought there was more to come and was staying close to be ready.

Dar I imagine that you all have asked each other that a time or two. I know you are easy to talk to and I figured that you got that trait from your mom...

Terry I hope you got more than we did. It was misty rainy for a good day and a half and we only got 1/2 inch. North and n.e. of us that storm was dumping 2-3 inches. Maybe it had time to reload and give you all a good soaking.

Yes it does stink, Debbie. But I get strength to be more patient with the healing from friends like you and JoJo. Thanks, sweetie, for dropping by and checking up on me.

Katydids all I can say is thank the good Lord for Medicare. At least that provides some help.

Medora I plan to take it as easy as I can. I'd rather get back to fun stories or at least something more interesting than my bunged up knee.
