Corn On The Cob, Creamed Corn…

Corn casserole, corn bread, corny jokes, corn pone, corn crib, well, you get the corny idea.  Another day, another corn report.

corn report 1 My huge corn field. Since I crapped my knee up the grass and weeds are trying to sneak in but if it’s not raining tomorrow the mower is going in to help with weed control.

Corn report 8.9.09 002 Five good day corn stalks and three bad day corn stalks.

bad day corn 2 Bad day corn.

bad day corn Another bad day corn.

good day corn Good day corn. They are kind of lording it over the bad day corn.  I tried to tell them that could have been them but I don’t think they listened.

tallest bad day corn 2 The tallest bad day corn.  That is about 6 inches above my knee. I don’t know if you can see that mark on my index finger… that’s a broken blister from pulling weeds and grass.  It’s almost healed.  It was so sore that I remembered to start wearing my gloves.

tallest good day corn The tallest good day corn.  About even with the bend in my elbow.  About 3’9’. Next week I will take a tape measure with me and measure so you can see for yourself.   I figure that it will be about as tall as Dar.  I’m excited to see, but then we all know it takes so little to entertain me.

look at this corn ear on good corn

Something is coming on cool corn And look at these!!! Corn is trying to make on the good day corn.  I looked real close at the bad day corn, but didn’t see any sign on them yet. I do need to clarify that this is only on three of the good day corn.  I don’t want you to think that all of the good day corn is at this point. This is, after all, a very scientific study.

Tomorrow, if you are all lucky, I’ll take a picture of my knee in it’s glorious color.  I just wanted to give you something to look forward to seeing.

Have a great Sunday.

This corn experiment is becoming facinating to me! I will need to ask now, where do I find a calendar on how to plant on good days versus bad days.

Dar I wouldn't get on my knee if I could. It hurts if I get on it. I stand up or sit on my stool.

Thanks, Peach. I'm going to have to try a bigger batch and plant earlier next year.

PS, Tipper says you can find it all in the Old Farmer's Almanac. I've got one but am just now learning to read it. You can google Old Farmer's Almanac. I've been there. Ihave heard for years to plant root crops on the wane of the moon and above ground such as beans and squash on the wax of the moon, but there are specific days that are better for some planting than others during each of those phases. I'm trying to learn.

Well, that good day corn is lookin' good, Sass. That bad day corn is lookin' embarrassed. You know what it's like gettin' your picture "took" when you're not up to par. Maybe you should give 'em a break and let 'em have a chance to spruce up before publicly shamin' 'em again.

I must of had two good corn days with my two corn pones, Bo & TWM. Bo is 5'11" and TWM is 5'9" and growin' still at 14. I, however, am shrinking. I nursed 'em too long. They got all my calcium and when I'm an old woman (next week) I'm just gonna be a jello puddle.

You forgot corn on the cob. tee hee
Looks like your experiment is proving the old timer's theories. Wish mine had came up so I can add to this "scientific" study that Tipper has began.

I love love love corn. Except creamed corn. Ugh! My kids love corn bread and corn muffins - great and easy to make.

Seriously, stop messing around with that knee already.

I wouldn't be brave enough to grow corn, but those good corns look REALLY good. How sweet to see the corn trying to grow!

I am really loving the good day/bad day experiment! I used to love the OFA, but haven't looked at one in years. Your knee is worrisome. Please go lie down now.

P.S. I had forgotten about your volleyball mishap!

Good corn? Bad corn? Waining moon? Waxing moon? I just plant whenever the mood hits me and when there is no more frost in the forecast. I never plant corn though. It takes too much space in the garden. I just buy mine at the store. 5/$1.00CDN.
