Another Ringy Dingy...Flower And Veggies...

My hens and chicks and other succulents came out strong and happy to show their colors, oh joy, oh joy. Spring is coming.

Let's burst out with all our blooms to celebrate!

Let's throw out beautiful color to welcome spring...

Fifty one days later. I've never lost hens and chicks to heat and am praying that these are not truly gone but will come back next spring.

They look like someone tried to blowtorch them... and I guess in a sense that was true.

Sunflower turning it's face up toward the sun, celebrating...

Now... they can't even hold their heads up...

Ah, beautiful lantana. So bright and vibrant in it's color.

This plant has thrived! It has at least doubled in size and has been blooming it's branches off.

The yellow and white lantana and the beautiful blue plumbago that so delighted me with the colors looking so good together...

These also have loved the heat. I wasn't too surprised about the lantana but the plumbago did surprise me. It looks so delicate but it must be tough as iron to have survived the heat.

I'll be getting more of both those plants next year just in case we have another hot one... but I'm praying that we don't have to go through another summer like this one in my lifetime.

I've shared with you now some of the good, the bad and the ugly. I hope your summer wasn't as tough on your garden as it was on ours. The weather forecasters think we here in Oklahoma will hit the 50 days over 100 degrees F. by Saturday, but having had a break with several rounds of storms will make the rest of the summer bearable.

Love the pics! I have one pot of lantana, but I am definitely going to get more next year and leave off some that didn't make it this year. Our summer in Alabama has not been as bad as yours, but it has been plenty hot enough!

That is just plain darn too hot. Period.

The "Spring" photos were beautiful and oh...so sad with the heat :(

I'm going to have to check out getting some of the Lantana...

((Hugs))

I love the blue and yellows together. I have never lost any hens and chickens, but this year they are not doing well. We hit a couple of record breaking temperatures this summer.

Unbelievable what the heat has done to your beautiful plants. You will be so relieved when winter finally arrives!

I bought a pot of hens and chickens this spring late. It's in a pot like a strawberry pot. What should I do with it, now that summer is almost over? Will they come back in this small pot, or do I plant them, etc? I have no clue. This summer has been so hot and horrible for so many of us. It felt I lived in SC again, instead of Ohio!! Hoping winter will not be this drastic!! Well, let me know please!!!

God Bless~

I just dropped over from kaleidoscope eyes. Sorry to hear that your garden suffered so terribly from the heat.
We've had a fair amount of heat in our part of Canada. Heat, and flooding. I hope things are cooler and dry for a while, so we can get the harvest in.

This heat sure makes it hard to keep vegetable and flower gardens looking like they're atleast still alive. We haven't had rain here on the farm in weeks and the grass is turning brown and even some of the weeds are dying. We could tolerate the heat a little better if we could just get some rain. I walked out the other evening after dark and the grass was just as dry as if it were still daylight. No dew at all.

Thank goodness that summer is almost at an end, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the hens and chickens as well!! I've never before seen them die back like that, but I have had other succulents that came back like gang-busters once things cooled down.
We suffered thru 3 weeks of 100-105F temps in CA, and now they're enjoying low to mid 80's...grrr!

xoxoxo Love ya, SASS!
