If you are going to visit Oklahoma. We have a myriad of things ‘unusual’ if you take the time to look…
Carol and I went to the Oklahoma State Fair last Tuesday. Wasn’t the best time because her wheelchair wasn’t holding a charge. She left it plugged in all night Monday and we hadn’t been to very many places yet at the fair grounds and the charge indicator started showing orange… which is the last color before red which means Helen’s gonna have to push this heavy mother with Carol in it back to the van. There was a wheelchair and scooter rental place close to where we came in and they let us plug in for a bit to try to goose it back up into the green but it wasn’t long at all before it had gone back down again. Carol headed for where the van was parked but asked me to get some spiral potatoes for her. I mean you have to eat some junk food at the fair. Fair foods are exempt from calories and, for me, cholesterol, don’t you know…
I caught up to her and got her loaded in the van and started looking for the way out of our parking lot when I spotted this…
Dumb me, I had gone off and left the good camera at home and then I thought, “I have my camera in my phone!” These aren’t great but at least I get to share the hot pink “REDNECK BARBIE” truck with you all. Yep, that’s what it says on the back window.
Another view… She had this puppy all shined up and spit polished to come to the fair and had parked way out in the parking lot so’s no one would park to close to her and maybe bump it with their door or something. I told Carol I would have loved to see the driver…
This is all I have for y’all today but I thought you’d get a kick out of these photos.
Hang in there… I’ll get back to family soon.
Good to know about the calories and cholesterol in fair foods. I will have to remember that. Sorry to hear about the wheelchair battery problem. I had trouble with my battery too the other day. When I was still over a kilometer from home my scooter stalled. I got it going again, but only very slowly. And it wouldn't go up the ramp when I got home. I hate technical problems like that.
ReplyDeleteFunnel cake and grilled corn! It's anything goes at the fair when it comes to food LOL
ReplyDeleteI am willing to bet my last dollar, a blonde drives that purdy truck!
What is going to the fair and not eating something so good but so bad for you? It's just part of life!! David's chair is doing that also. I think i's time to talk to the VA about a new battery. Mine is fine, but I don't use mine as often, only when having to walk a far distance or stand to long.I have bad arthritis in my back and hips and also disk desease, so the times of using it are coming closer and closer. Along with the neuropathy in my legs, I am a mess. Glad Carol made it back to the van and you didn't have to push that heavy chair!!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless~
Debbie Jean
Ps. I want a purdy pink truck!!!!
Oooohhh... what a purty truck! I would have loved to have seen the driver - and I'll bet anything she was a true "Barbie doll"!
ReplyDeleteWhich is probably why I'll never own one like that...lol!
But fair food? Anything goes, as far as I'm concerned! I figure if you eat too much and you're worried about the calories, one ride on the "Tilt-A-Whirl" solves THAT little problem!
love the truck... would not drive it but woudl love to see the driver too... glad you gals had some fun and good calorie free food at the fair!
ReplyDeleteHi, Hetty... I told Carol to call about the chair when we got home. She did and they came out the next day and replaced the battery. It was almost 5 years old and the guy was amazed that the battery had lasted as long as it did. He said most people run them until the battery reads in the red and almost not moving until they plug it in to charge it and that it should never be run down that far if it can be avoided. Medicare and her supplemental insurance paid for the replacement battery so that was a good thing.
ReplyDeleteAmen, Debbie on the funnel cakes... and I didn't get one because of the battery problems. And I'll agree about a blond driving that truck...lol
Debbie Jean, I think you're right about fair food being a part of life. We try so hard to do good but every now and then you've got to have some fair or carnival food. I think, too, it would be fun to have that purty pink truck and I'm not like Laura~Peach... I'd drive that sucker!
Hey, Kate... if we owned a truck like that at least we could pretend we were 'Barbie dolls'. lol
Laura, you remember the old song, "These Boots Were Made For Walking"? Well, my boots aren't made for walking and if I had that truck I'd drive the heck out of it! Love you!
Just can't get excited about okra-but I love the "Redneck Barbie" truck! Gotta admire a gal who is that much up front !
ReplyDeleteI just came across your blog and I have to say I love this truck you found. I mean it's awesome to me. Real awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis was my very first truck before we sold it. I was so in love with Taylor Swift's pink truck that formy dad bought for my 15th birthday a truck and put a 6 inch lift on it. He Brought me the book and had me pick my favorite shade of pink and of course pepto pink was the winner. I sure do miss it!
