A Snippet...
This is one of those ads that make me go, "Hmmmm..."
I wonder how the employees of this company collected the tapeworms...
I wonder about the process involved to 'sanitize' them.
I wonder if you had to ingest the worms while they were wriggling around in your mouth without chewing to get them on their way to their final destination.
I wonder how long this company stayed in business. This was, after all, in the pre-litiginous era. I would have thought that it wasn't a huge monetary settlement that drove them out of business.
But, most of all, I guess I wonder what sort of mind would have thought this up in the first place...
Just one of those things I think about when I run across something like this.
Unbelievably gross!! I'd dearly love to know the experiences of someone who might have tried this...
ReplyDeleteWell done for finding it!
Caroline
Hmmm... interesting! I wonder who thought this up - and why?
ReplyDeleteWomen back then weren't afraid to have curves, so I just wonder how many saved their pennies and sent away for it?
If that was the only choice, I would rather be curvy, I'm afraid!!
;-)
After reading this-I'll probably have nightmares-ewww ewww ewww!! Ewww!!
ReplyDeleteEwwww is right!
ReplyDeletecan I get some of those tapeworms?
ReplyDeleteLOL, where do you get this stuff?
I am willing to try anything...just so long as I can keep stuffing the food In ;-)
ReplyDeleteewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww is all I can say!!!
ReplyDeleteGod Bless~

Ugh! What in the world were they even thinking. . . letting a worm, a dirty worm, crawl down your throat after it has been . . . well you know where. . .
ReplyDeleteIf anyone has really done that, I hope they became a supermodel just because they had the guts (ha ha) or gut worms, to do it. . .
Thanks so much for the compliment on the weight loss. That really helps a gal out.... I love your post! I always look forward to your new ones just to see what you will have on here! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteOh my God!! We spent a lot of money on our dog Moke,(when we first found him), getting rid of tapeworms that were killing him.
ReplyDeleteWhat were they thinking?
me again...lol You were tagged today over at my place :-))
ReplyDeleteOh good Lord, I'm gonna be sick..;p
ReplyDeleteTHIS sort of mind would think of it. I'm always asking where I can buy a tape worm.
ReplyDeleteOkay! So now I am going to have nightmares and maybe throw up! That is probably how these things worked. You just had to think about them at the end of a meal and head for the bathroom. Did they have bathrooms in those days? Probably not. Maybe more like head for the outhouse!
ReplyDeleteMy grandma used to tell the tale of one of her good friends from high school (early 1930's) who purchased a tapeworm to lose weight. She lost weight all right and then died. As someone in the 21st century and now an adult (I was a young teen when she told me the story)I have some questions about the story that I didn't have at the time. I know I have treated my cats for tapeworm but I do not know if there were pills in the 30's or if the girl just did not get treatment.
ReplyDeleteHow bizarre...I must run away now and immediately try to forget I ever heard this. It's only 9 hours till bedtime...
ReplyDeleteThat is just gross!
ReplyDeleteBut I have to admit, I would have been wondering the same things as you.
And I don't think I know or have ever known anyone who would swallow a worm to stay thin.
Ewww - NASTY! It reminded me of a House show when he pulled a tapeworm out of a woman's stomach - absolutel - NASTY!
ReplyDeleteThanks for good news!
