I'm adding a proviso- I have a king sized bed. The jeans and shorts look skinnier on it... The clothes I wore when I was younger would fit two in one pair now.
I did my laundry yesterday. I was having a lazy day inside after I got the outside stuff done early, nobody else was needing to do their wash so I got after it.
I had washed my grungies, i.e. my working jeans and shorts. I threw them on the bed to fold or hang and I got to looking at them…
I had to laugh at the progression. I wear clothes a long time. I wear them o.u.t. When my jeans get stained with whatever, they become yard jeans or painting and yard jeans or nasty cleaning job jeans or car washing jeans… You get my drift.
When they get too many worn places in the legs and knees, they becomes working shorts. I cut them off. The older I get the longer the shorts are cut. When you look at the following evolution of clothing, please understand that these clothes are all CLEAN. They have paint on them as well as red dirt stains and a blood stain here and there.
Enjoy the following photos and be very proud of how clean your laundry looks.
Next oldest. Dirt, paint, etc.
My Daisy Dukes. These are probably 15 years old. At least. The red on these is paint, as well as the yellow and white…
These are only about ten years old. They are somewhat longer.
These are my most recent cutoffs. These are the only one of the three pairs I’ll wear if I have to run to Lowe’s or Atwood’s or the grocery or whatever. I don’t wear the other two pairs of shorts except around the ponderosa here.
I do try to dress my age…

Funny helen.. shake your daisydukes
That's what I call "making due"... and you ARE skinny. Damn! I gave up "Daisy Dukes" when I was about 35.
My shorts are getting a little longer out in public. Where did the knee wrinkles come from? Aren't there enough on my face? I've got some looking similar to yours. I wear them till thread bare!!
Yes. You are skinny and funny as hell.
bwahahahahaha! I don't even bother with shorts anymore - unless they're that "bermuda" length, which is really pants with a short leg. And they feel sorta short. Dang, how did this age thing happen anyway?
So funny. Just don't wear some of these to a crime scene - they might arrest first and ask questions later! The red paint, red dirt and your own blood looks quite suspicious!
Well, I can say that they must be the most comfortable clothes for sure~! When they are worn out like that and have pride stains, ..well, they become favorites! Now my shirts are another STORY!! LOL
What a great idea! I see lots of work in these jeans! Did you read/watch "Lonesome Dove?" The character "Deets" played by Danny Glover in the series, used to patch up his jeans until all they were was patchwork. It was not so obvious in the movie (although he was dressed in patches) but the book made much of it. I was reminded of Deets when I read your post! C
Why Helen, I never knew a person could be resourceful enough to recycle clothes for ten years! I gotta tell ya, if I had just held onto my old jeans, I could actually get back into them now! However, I had a moment. . . you know. . . a fat moment. . . and that is when it happened! I took the Daisy Dukes to the Goodwill. . .along with those red stilletto's. (pssst! don't tell anyone, but back in the day, we used to call those shoes the CFM shoes. You figure out the acronyme for that! I can't say it on public blogs!) Anywho, I'm right proud of you! You have found a new way to GO GREEN (recycle) everything! Now when the jeans get holy I mean holey, put them on and wear them up here to my church!
I do the same thing, some I wont wear if the kids are home...weeds, dirt & animals dont care!
I say, wear the daisy dukes to the home improvement store, let them eat cake and wish they still had the same figure they had 10 years ago!
I know I do. Believe it or not, I still have my favorites packed up in a box in the floor of the closet, waiting.
I keep threatening to throw them out, but The Captain won't let me. Guess he's waiting, too. *sniff*
Love it! I'm mostly impressed that you can still wear clothes from 15 years ago. I used to be able to wear my jeans long enough for them to get worn. Lately I've been out-growing them rather than wearing them out. Yuk! Something to do with menopause and getting close to 50 - damn aging.
OMG love love love this! my shorts come to the knee and i even have a couple pairs that are below the knee LMAO!!!! love this!
OMG Helen! I'm LMFAO! Too funny. But seriously, at least you can still fit into pants you bought 15 years ago! And they fit on the bed! Mine don't fit me or even the bed anymore.
You would get along well with my Vince. He does the same thing. The dirtier the harder we work. I already knew that about you. By the way, Dillon noticed that you noticed his comment. I was surprised that he reads my blog. He is my best buddy!
